Lydia is wading through the murder creek, brought back through her memories by the Valack. He’s amplifying her powers by drilling a hole in her head, so she can see memories that aren’t her own, and she doesn’t get very far before realizing that Theo ripped out his own sister’s heart. He took it to make himself a genetic chimera, which is pretty hardcore for a ten year old. The only thing the Valack guy can’t figure out is why choose Theo.
Meanwhile, the whole chimera pack, led by Theo, breaks into Eichen House to grab Lydia.
I guess we’re still in the future, because Lydia ~remembers~ what happened to make them realize Theo was a chimera. (Does anyone understand how these flashbacks work, because I am also so lost. )Way back when, Stiles and Melissa are at the hospital with Papa Stiles going into emergency surgery. Poor Stiles is all alone, waiting for his dad to get out.
Scott’s having trouble with his alpha-ness, something that’s been coming up for awhile now. He must have lost more blood than he realized, because he bleeds trough his bandages and then passes out alone in his house.
A very sooty and naked Parrish imagines Lydia taking a shower with him, and boy did I not miss this weird thing the show is forcing between them. While they make out he notices her nail is bloody , and the rest of her is filthy, and lo and behold, she’s not actually there. And neither is he. He wakes up almost running headfirst into another car and calls Hayden’s sister Valerie looking for back-up. Beacon Hills is in disarray at the moment, and everyone in the station is pretty confused about his actions up to this point also, so Parrish has to go after her himself. After his light goes out he uses a flare, which sets off his hellhound senses.
Papa Stiles is fine! Thank heavens. He’s finishing surgery, he’s going to live, and Stiles won’t be an orphan.
Somehow, Parrish finds Scott passed out on the floor, with zombie Lydia in tow. Scott’s also counfused, but Parrish tells him found her in the woods, and found a Sheriff badge scratched into the rock with her nail as a warning. Papa Stiles may be out of the woods figuratively, but he’s still not safe.
Valerie hops into one of the police vehicles, and Liam tries to follow her to tell her about Hayden. Luckily Mason stops him. Poor little Liam is going through so much, what with his girlfriend dying and almost killing someone. Rough night. Mason tries to take him home, but Liam smells something that stops him: Hayden’s scent. Mason tries telling him she’s gone, but Liam trusts his nose. And, well, they’re both right.
Parrish and Scott bring Lydia to the hospital, and then Scott heads upstairs to find Stiles. He’s getting some pretty bad news from the doctors – who don’t know what’s wrong with his father – and takes it out on Scott. Scott takes it his friend’s anger and accusations, because he thinks he deserves it, and tells Stiles that Lydia was hurt by Theo, too. Stiles wants to see Lydia, but her mom throws him out before he can look at the back of her neck for nail imprints. Mrs Martin looks for herself, and there they are. Somehow, the whole staff at the hospital also missed those, because they’re bleeding and unbandaged.
What’s left of the McCall pack has a meeting trying to figure out what Theo is up to. Stiles is going to after him and try talking to him, since it seems as though he didn’t want Papa Stiles to die in the first place. Scott offers to go with him, but this is something wants – and needs – to do on his own.
Mrs Martin is being pressured into sending Lydia to Eichen House, and signs her daughter away. Which is going to lead to a whole mess of trouble.
Stiles is right, and Theo comes to him. Past the mountain ash line he put down. But Stiles brought Scott with him, hiding him upstairs to act as a lie detector. Theo can kind of tell Scott is there, but Stiles tosses him a bloody shirt to get him off Scott’s scent, telling him he killed his best friend. Stiles confronts him about his dad asking him why he poisoned his dad if he didn’t want t kill him, but Theo brushes it off. Instead he gets very cryptic about horrible things that are yet to come.
Liam asks his dad if a girl name Hayden came through the hospital that night, and his dad tries to send Mason and Liamboth home. But Liam is too keyed up, and Mason knows that. Mason suggests that they go to where Hayden’s body is to see for themselves, and immediately regrets it.
Stiles gets knocked out by Theo, and tries to walk off what’s probably a concussion. Scott tells him that Theo’s heart only jumped once; when Stiles told him his dad was poisoned. Which means that he didn’t attack Papa Stiles, another chimera did. Stiles wants to go off alone, and Scott wants to help so badly. Their friend bond is too strong to let a little murder and betrayal get in the way, and they go off to find their missing teenager.
Back at the library, Mason and Liam look into leylines and see where they bisect: the nemeton. Liam defaces some school property by tearing the page out of the book and taking off.
Watching Mrs Martin load Lydia into an ambulance., Parrish promises to break Lydia out of Eichen House, which never really works out if memory serves me right. Valack and the creepy attendant drive her off, hopefully to be seen alive and well again.
Scott and Stiles find their missing teen very easily, Noah Patrick, and then go to the high school to get some clothes so the can pick up a scent. Malia, the best scenter they know, shows up to lend them a hand. It’s going to be quite the challenge, since Noah being chased by the Dread Doctors.
Following the map leads Liam and Mason into the middle of nowhere. Liam feels terrible for not being there when Hayden died, and for going after Scott, and giving into his anger. Mason tries to make him feel better, reminding him that it was the super moon. Talk of the super moon gives Mason an idea. A supernatural thing can only be found by a supernatural creature. Liam uses his werewolf eyes, and discovers that they’re basically right on top of the nemeton.
Following Malia’s nose leads Scott and Stiles to an abandoned train station. Scott wants to let her know that he’s always there if she wants to talk, but Malia has never been much for poening up. She does lead them down below ground, where she finds Noah’s scent again.
There’s nothing anyone can do to save Papa Stiles, apparently, not if no one knows what’s happening. Melissa knows but doesn’t understand; she just wants Liam’s dad to keep him alive for as long as they can.
It’s suddenly night at the nemeton, and Liam and Mason are surprised by the police. And surrounded by bodies, which is not the best situation to be in. Things get more surprising when Hayden emerges from the back of the cop car to tell the police that this is where she found the bodies.
Scott thinks this looks tunnel very familiar but Stiles doesn’t have time for this his father is dying! His shouting is cut off with a shove from Noah and OH GOD HE GETS KNOCKED OUT AND HAS MEMORIES OF HIS MOTHER’S FUNERAL BECAUSE TEEN WOLF LOVES TO HURT ME. Baby Stiles looks up at his dad, who comforts him by telling him “You still got me,” which is like a punch to the face. Now Scott and Stiles HAVE to make up. Stiles comes to while Malia keeps Noah from attacking anyone, but he warns them all that the Doctors are coming.
Noah tries to take off, but Stiles stops him to get info on his dad. He doesn’t remember, so Scott tells him to take Noah to the hospital while he and Malia stay behind to take on the Doctors. Scott has faith that they won’t die, because DADDY ARGENT IS THERE AS BACK UP. Ineffectual back up, but still, he’s back up. Malia and Scott get behind him as he pumps bullet after bullet.
Noah and Stiles get to a locked door which Noah attempts to break through without losing control. Stiles notices that weird broken bone stinger thing on Noah’s hand. And that tips him off. Melissa calls for emergency surgery to take the piece of bone out of Papa Stiles to keep him from being poisoned by bone marrow.
Thank GOD the surgery is successful, and Scott and Malia and Daddy Argent head back to the hospital. Stiles is there when his dad wakes up, and Papa tells him they still got each other.
Hayden and Theo are at the train station, looking for Noah. She can smell him, and can smell that he’s dying. Which means he doesn’t stand a chance against the Doctors. Or stood a chance, if the pool of mercury on the floor is any indication. Or maybe it wasn’t the Doctor’s that found him. There’s a symbol scratched into the wall of the basement, the symbol of the McCall pack.
Valack is still talking to Lydia, asking if Scott’s pack will be coming to reunite with her. But it’s not his pack that’s coming, it’s Theo’s. They grab her and go, just as Parrish in all his hell hound glory shows up. Just like Theo wanted.
