Meanwhile, Ashley Marin is getting questioned by Lorenzo and looking ever so guilty as usual. The police know about the deleted security footage right away and even though Ashley knows Hanna had something to do with it, Hanna claims she doesn’t do things like that anymore. Too bad she is still lying.
Spencer took some direction from Melissa since it’s their mom whose campaign is at stake if Spencer is accused of murder again. Melissa makes it clear that sometimes the best way to answer a question is by avoiding it. This comes in handy when Spencer is confronted by the Hollis reporter whose line of questioning seems a bit suspect. It was through that report that Spencer learned that Mona was back and campaigning against her mom but only after she was turned down when Mona asked to work on the campaign with them. Surprise Spencer! Mona is your competition again and she hates to lose as much as Spencer does.
Aria can’t seem to stay away from Ezra and decides she will convince him to finish his book. It also happens to be Aria’s job to get that book out of her teacher ex-boyfriend but Aria makes it a personal mission, telling Ezra just how wonderful his prose is and begging for a completed version. The chemistry between them tells us that Aria’s romance with her boss probably won’t last long and she’ll be back in the arms of her former teacher before long.
As for Emily, she finally gets busted by her mom for dropping out of school. Mrs. Fields finds a letter from Pepperdine that addresses Emily’s dropping out and is understandably upset. Despite promising her mom that she won’t keep any more secrets, Emily is still hiding her health issues and her daily injections. Way to start out with a clean slate!
Out of nowhere, an all grown up Lucas shows up. Ever faithful to Hanna, the successful tech millionaire doesn’t hesitate when asked to be her alibi for the night that Charlotte was murdered. Lucas also questions Hanna about her engagement ring, finding out that Hanna has Jordan now and not Caleb. Which sets us up for another shocker.
Spencer and Caleb weren’t a thing but she really wanted them to be. Spencer admits to Hanna that she really loves Caleb (as if we couldn’t really, really tell) and when Hanna can’t really say much about it because she’s engaged to someone else, Spencer finally makes her move on Caleb. This one shouldn’t be a huge surprise because Spencer stole two of her sister’s men so why not take one from a best friend? We thought it was some sort of code to not date your best friend’s man even after they have broken up but Spencer doesn’t play by the rules. Now we just need to find out where’s Toby, who hasn’t shown up yet but certainly won’t approve of Spencer and Caleb.
The episode of Pretty Little Liars ended with a new "A" and this time, he/she is supposed to be even scarier than ever before. All the Liars received a text message that said, “You know who did it and I’m going to make you talk.” The new evil “A” is shown in a room with masks and creepy dolls. “A” is googling uniforms with those black-gloved hands and we know this can’t be good.
