It certainly didn’t look good for Aria when she high-tailed it back to Boston even after her friends urged her to stick around for Charlotte’s murder investigation. Alison is already upset with Aria for changing her tune about Charlotte’s freedom and now she is hinting that she might point the finger at her for the murder. Of course, Aria may have escaped Rosewood temporarily, but she has already returned after her boss got nervous upon hearing that Ezra might return his book advance and only she can talk him into keeping it.
The Liars also suspected that Sara might be behind Charlotte’s death. When Alison finds out that Sara was being removed from the suspect list, she gets pretty upset. It turns out that Sara couldn’t have done it, according to Lorenzo, because Charlotte died before she ever fell. Lorenzo believes that Sara wasn’t capable of causing the broken neck that really killed Charlotte.
Spencer also has a secret and we know it won’t stay safe for long. She told Caleb that the details surrounding Charlotte’s death are the same as the ones in a paper she wrote for college. Spencer can only hope that paper doesn’t surface and implicate her in Charlotte’s murder, but we know it will and probably sooner rather than later.
Emily is also holding a secret and no one is too sure what all she is currently facing. She has been secretly going to a doctor for treatment and it’s looking like she may have a serious illness, possibly even cancer. When Emily’s mom sees a call from the university hospital, she questions Emily about it. Rather than confess, Emily tells her mom a lie about possibly going to grad school, getting her mom’s hopes up and putting herself in a position to be outed at the wrong moment.
Caleb came face to face with Hanna’s new fiance and to say it was awkward is an understatement. Hanna told Caleb that she is happy, and even seems to be, but we all know deep down Hanna is pining away for Caleb. It seems like Caleb really misses Hanna too, but he can’t be too lonely because he’s been keeping Spencer company. The two have become very close and there are even suggestions that they are romantic. The chemistry between Spencer and Caleb is pretty exciting and they might make a great couple, except that everyone is secretly hoping that Hanna will come back to her senses7 and reclaim her man.
Back to their old sneaky tricks, Hanna, Spencer and Emily checked out the security footage from the night Charlotte was murdered. Imagine their shock when they see Aria and Ezra, prompting the ladies to question their friend about what exactly she was doing that night. A flashback sequence of Ezra comforting Aria after Charlotte was released makes her former teacher-boyfriend look very suspicious. Did Ezra kill Charlotte? It seems like that would be the easy answer, so probably no.
At the end of the “Charlotte’s Web” episode, Alison shocked everyone when she seemed to turn on her friends again. She can be seen talking to Lorenzo and has changed her mind about whether or not one of her friends might be guilty of Charlotte’s murder. Is Alison really going to point the finger at one of the Liars and get them in trouble with the law again?
It seems like no one from Rosewood has learned yet that their lies always seem to be found out and the result is never pretty. How do you think the Liars will cope with being back in Rosewood and chasing another phantom “A” as they fight to prove their innocence yet again?
