Over at Luigi’s Restaurant, a man attacks a local musician named Julio Mendez by merely touching him. The next day, Barry, Julian Albert, and Joe West investigate the crime scene to learn Mendez’s corpse is decaying at an accelerated rate. Joe recommends Barry races the body to S.T.A.R. Labs for an autopsy.
Luigi’s strikes a chord with Iris because the restaurant was on the list of future events seen when Barry time-traveled into the future. If the closing and reopens happens, her death at the hands of Savitar has a greater chance of occurring as well. By the time the corpse arrives at S.T.A.R. Labs, it’s already disintegrated. This is how #TeamFlash learns the meta has flesh-eating powers.
Wally is trying to get the hang of phasing with not much progress made. After the new meta (whose name is Clive Yorkin) kills another individual, Barry remembers that Mendez and the new gentleman were both Central City police officers in Flashpoint—which means Dr. Alchemy is behind Yorkin’s powers. Julian feels responsible since he was Dr. Alchemy, but Caitlin tries to convince him otherwise. Some infighting between the two occurs.
In happier news, Cecile Horton’s daughter Joane is in town. The mother-daughter duo meet up with Joe’s family for coffee, where they learn Sophie is a huge Kid Flash fan and Cecile is on #TeamFlash. This leads to a funny moment where Joe has to literally make a “Sophie’s Choice” between The Flash and Kid Flash.
Yorkin arrives to spare Joe from making a decision. He still holds a grudge against Joe from the Flashpoint universe. Wally is able to disappear long enough to get in Kid Flash gear to save everyone in the cafe.
After such a tense confrontation, Iris finally tells Joe the truth about her impending death. Joe, rightfully, takes this information hard. He deserves to know something this important about his daughter.
Yorkin takes this opportunity to stalk Iris back at her apartment. She’s able to activate an alert on her cellphone that notifies Cisco and Wally. Instead of waiting for Barry, Wally goes to save his sister solo. Unfortunately, Wally isn’t fast enough and Yorkin ends up touching Iris. Caitilin has to use her Killer Frost abilities to freeze Iris’ arm to stop the flesh-eating virus from spreading further.
Cisco comes up with a plan to vibe to the Flashpoint universe to find Yorkin’s next targets. The more Caitlin uses her powers, the more she loses herself to Killer Frost. Julian is able to bring her back from the brink.
Joe hops on a train to warn another police officer that she’s in potential danger. Yorkin appears and disintegrates debris onto the train track. It takes the Flash phasing an entire train through the debris to save all the passengers. The unbelievable trick leaves the Flash drained, so it’s up to Kid Flash to stop Yorkin. Barry channels his best Harrison Wells pep talk to help Wally stop Yorkin by phasing his own blood, which is a neutralizer, into Yorkin.
A budding romance appears to be blooming between Caitlin and Julian as she invites him out to coffee. We end “Untouchable” with Wally continuing his phasing training right when Earth-2’s Jesse Quick jumps through a portal to warn that her father is trapped in Gorilla City.
Highlight - “Run, Wally, Run!” This was the rallying cry from Barry as he aided Wally in defeating Yorkin. Barry shows some maturity by admitting that while his former mentors turned out to be evil, they were great teachers.
Closing Thought - “Gorilla City” should allow fans to see two young speedsters (Kid Flash and Jesse Quick) working together and hopefully learning from one another. Plus we get the return of Gorilla Grodd! What’s better than that?
